About Us

At Sarah Bates School of Swimming, we offer swimming lessons from 3 months old. Sarah has over 30 years teaching experience throughout the Nottingham and Derbyshire areas, and established her own swim school over 20 years ago. Sarah was also nominated for the ASA Swimming Teacher of the Year Award, where she reached the finals and was awarded Bronze. This marked Sarah as the 3rd best swimming instructor in the United Kingdom.

We have also received press and media coverage from various news outlets such as; The Daily Mail, Derby Telegraph, BBC News and Central News with Sarah’s Little Swimmers lessons. This included children as young as 2 years old being able to swim in deep water safely and also achieve distance awards. Our main aim for all children, whether they are total beginners or improvers, is that they can save themselves if ever they were in danger in the water; that is our priority.

Sarah Bates built and opened her pool in May 2016, with children’s lessons in mind. For beginner group lessons (4yrs+) we have 4 in a class to 1 teacher who is in the water. We have benches around the poolside for spectators and The Coffee Room which features prime view of the poolside. This means you can enjoy a coffee or milkshake whilst watching your children’s lessons.

Learning to swim is a skill that once learnt is rarely forgotten and it is open to people of all ages. Our lessons make learning fun and enjoyable for children.
