COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions:

At SBSOS, we are constantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation and how this impacts swimming lessons. We are following guidance from Swim England and the government to make swimming as safe as possible. We want to say thank you to all of our customers who have supported us through this time!

Q: How has arriving for my child’s swimming lesson changed?

We are asking all parents/guardians to arrive to their child’s lesson around 5/10 minutes early, to allow enough time to check in. Please queue outside the building and follow social distancing. Do not enter the building unless instructed to by a member of staff. You will be greeted on the door, where a member of staff will check you in and take everyone’s temperature. All customers will need to wear a face covering (unless exempt), use hand sanitiser and follow the one-way system. Social distancing markers are placed throughout the building. Q: Who can attend my child’s lesson?

At the moment, we are only allowing one adult per child to spectate the lesson. For parent and baby lessons, you can bring one adult together with the child, then an additional adult. They must be from the same household/support bubble. If you require additional support, please let us know.

Q: Do I need to wear a face covering?

Everyone over the age of 11 will be required to wear a face covering when walking around the building. For parent and baby lessons, this does not need to be worn inside the water but around the poolside/building. If you are exempt from wearing one, please let the office know as soon as possible. If you refuse to wear a face covering or do not follow the COVID-19 measures, you will be asked to leave immediately.

Q: Are the changing rooms open?

As mentioned in our COVID-19 Guidelines Form, we are asking all customers to adopt the “beach-style” changing method, which has been recommend by Swim England. We recognise that this is no suitable for everyone, so changing rooms are open but we are limiting the numbers allowed in. This may cause a delay in waiting for a space to become available. Changing rooms are constantly sanitised throughout the lessons and all parents must hand sanitise before entering.

Q: One of my children (child A) has started to show symptoms but the other one (child B) is feeling normal, can I bring child B to the lessons?

As recommended by the government, if anyone in your household has developed symptoms they should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119 .

All other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.

Q: One of my children (child A) has been told to isolate as someone in their bubble at school has COVID-19 symptoms. Child A has no symptoms and their sibling (child B) is attending school as normal. Can both children still attend swimming?

If child A has been told to self-isolate and is not showing any symptoms, they will still need to follow government guidance and self-isolate for 2 weeks. As child A is not showing symptoms, child B who is still attending school as normal can still attend swimming lessons. If anyone in your household/support bubble begins to experience COVID-19 symptoms, please let us know as soon as possible and follow government guidelines.

Q: My child has missed lessons due to self-isolating or we have been away on holiday. Can we re-arrange these lessons or receive a refund?

Due to current restrictions, we are unable to re-arrange any lessons from the date of reopening. Any unattended lessons will be lost and you will not receive credit or a refund. As mentioned in our terms and conditions, all lessons are non-refundable. If SBSOS has cancelled your lesson due to a pool closure, we will contact you if you have credit available.

Q: How will the “Tier System” impact my child’s swimming lessons from 2nd December onwards?

The government and Swim England have announced that children’s swimming lessons can run from the 2nd December onwards in all 3 tiers. This means that all of our lessons will be running as normal. If the guidance does change, we will let everyone know as soon as possible.
